Verano Opens Its First West Virginia Dispensary

An Illinois cannabis company has opened its first dispensary in West Virginia.

On Thursday, Chicago-based Verano announced the grand opening of the Zen Leaf dispensary in Morgantown, increasing the company’s footprint to 13 states and 92 shops nationwide.

The shop officially opened for business today at 11:00 a.m. EST.

According to MJBizDaily projections, sales in West Virginia’s medical cannabis market will reach $40 million by 2025.

Verano says the new Zen Leaf Morgantown dispensary, located at 205 Venture Drive, sits in an area that sees an average of 28,000 vehicles every day.

West Virginia University’s main campus is also nearby.

“Opening our first West Virginia Zen Leaf medical cannabis dispensary is a significant milestone for Verano, and we couldn’t think of a more beautiful, vibrant city than Morgantown to make our debut in this great state,” says Verano Founder George Archos. “We look forward to serving the West Virginia medical cannabis community at Zen Leaf Morgantown, and in the additional locations we are excited to open across the Mountain State in the years to come.”

Verano says it currently holds a permit from the West Virginia Office of Medical Cannabis for a cultivation and processing facility.

According to Verano, the facility is close to being fully operational.

The company says it also has permits for seven medical cannabis dispensaries that it plans to open throughout 2022 following approvals.

The Zen Leaf Morgantown dispensary will stock Verano’s therapeutic cannabis products, including flowers, topicals, edibles, and vapes.

The new shop, which offers express pickup ordering, is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
