An American multi-state cannabis company is opening a dispensary next to a famous Illinois baseball park.
Chicago-based Cresco Labs today announced the grand opening of its flagship dispensary in Sunnyside, located 300 feet from the famous Wrigley Field marquee.
Cresco is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the dispensary this morning with elected officials, community leaders, and executives from the company.
Relocation and Redesign
Cresco recently relocated the Sunnyside dispensary two blocks south to the former site of the John Barleycorn bar at 3524 North Clark Street.
The former location will become the Illinois Cannabis Education Center, which Cresco describes as a hands-on destination where people impacted by cannabis criminalization can develop essential skills for operating a successful and compliant dispensary.
The dispensary now sits in a busy Chicago entertainment district with approximately 50 restaurants, bars, shops, and other businesses.
The dispensary opened for medical cannabis patients at its previous location and expanded service to include adult-use purchases when Illinois legalized recreational sales in January 2020.
Cresco says the dispensary will continue to prioritize medical patients with express entry and dedicated points of sale.
Cresco Labs Co-Founder and CEO Charlie Bachtell says the Sunnyside dispensary is a one-of-a-kind shop that will better accommodate existing patients and consumers and function as a showcase for millions of visitors to the Wrigleyville neighborhood each year.
“It will feature unique product activations, 21 points of sale, and plenty of space to serve patients and customers on high traffic days when baseball games, concerts, and large-scale events are taking place next door,” says Bachtell. “To think back on when the original Wrigleyville location opened for medical sales five years ago, it’s incredible to see how far this industry and organization has come and to see the outstanding execution from our retail team.”
Dispensary Features
Cresco says the 10,000 square-foot dispensary features nearly 5.500 square feet of retail space, providing an enhanced consumer experience and a capacity for wellness advisors to better meet medical patient and adult-use consumer needs.
According to the company, Sunnyside Wrigleyville stocks a diverse selection of premium products from Cresco and other brands.
The range of products includes cannabis flowers, vaping hardware, accessories, edibles, pre-rolls, concentrates, tinctures, topicals, beverages, and branded merchandise.
Sunnyside provides both medical and adult-use customers with the option to place orders online via the shop website, over the phone at 773-820-7280, or in person at the shop.
The dispensary is open seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
