Curaleaf Granted Approval To Open Cape Cod’s First Adult-Use Cannabis Shop

Massachusetts-based cannabis operator, Curaleaf Holdings Inc. today announced that the Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission (MCCC) has granted the company permission to open the first adult-use dispensary in Cape Cod.

The company will coordinate with the MCCC to schedule post-final inspections of the store, which will be opening its doors for business at 170 Commercial Street in Provincetown in early 2020.

Curaleaf opened its first adult-use cannabis shop in Oxford in November of 2019.

“As one of the largest cannabis companies in the United States, we are proud to be based right here in Massachusetts and to be expanding our presence across the Commonwealth,” says Curaleaf CEO Joseph Lusardi. “Providing high quality and reliable products to patients and customers in our home state of Massachusetts as well as across the country is important to us.”

Curaleaf Massachusetts President Patrik Jonsson says that cultivating wellness is the company’s mission and that they are excited to be a part of the Cape Cod community where they expect to create more than 30 jobs and get involved with local charities and initiatives that are important to the Outer Cape.

The company currently employs 65 people at its national headquarters in Wakefield, MA as well as another 145 people at its local Massachusetts operations, which include a medical cannabis facility in Hanover.

Curaleaf, which has grown to become one of the largest cannabis companies in the United States, is planning to open a another adult-use cannabis shop in the town of Ware sometime in 2020.
