One of the world’s largest cannabis companies has made an annual list highlighting people making a global impact.
On Wednesday, Wakefield, Massachusetts-based Curaleaf announced its inclusion in the second annual TIME100 list of most influential people.
In creating the list, Time editors and correspondents accepted nominations from industries worldwide, including entertainment, technology, transportation, and healthcare.
Time evaluated each nominated party based on their leadership, impact, relevance, innovation, success, and other factors.
“Being recognized as one of the world’s most influential companies by TIME is further confirmation that our work is breaking down the stigma of the plant, building an equitable and exciting industry, launching innovative new products for a wide consumer base, and tangibly supporting the communities that we serve,” says Curaleaf CEO Joe Bayern. “We are humbled and honored to be included alongside change-making companies that are revolutionizing their industries as well. As the only cannabis company included on this list, we hold a unique responsibility in shaping and leading our industry for continued success in the future.”
Curaleaf says its inclusion in the TIME100 list acknowledges its company vision to advance the cannabis industry and lead the world in cannabis education accessibility and consumer satisfaction through high-quality science-based products.
According to Curaleaf, the award has come during an industry inflection point, with proposed cannabis legislation under consideration in Washington D.C. and New York and New Jersey progressing their voter-demanded adult-use markets.
