Although Cortez Ash, the former Florida Atlantic University defensive back, didn’t make many headlines on the field, he made some significant moves off the field.
The arrest of a 29-year-old former Florida Atlantic University football player in Port St. Lucie is one of the most extensive drug raids in the city’s history.
While serving the search warrant, police discovered 132.2 pounds of marijuana, multiple firearms, including an AK-47, and more than $25,000 in cash on Ash’s person.
He is now facing multiple drug and weapon fines.
Per the police report, the investigators also discovered 612 pieces of cannabis edibles that were packaged to look like “Nerds Rope.”
This isn’t his first encounter with the authorities. He was imprisoned in Indian River County in 2011 after being accused of stealing 400 pounds of copper cable from a scrap yard and then trying to sell it to the same scrap yard.
According to the report, his girlfriend was also taken into custody.
