Professional surfing icon and humanitarian Rob Machado has signed on with a West Coast cannabis company as an ambassador.
California cannabis producer Ikänik Farms, Inc. today announced that its cannabidiol-focused (CBD) subsidiary Ikänik Life has added to its action sports family by bringing on Australian-born American surfer Rob Machado.
As a surfer, Machado ranked in the top ten for eleven years and earned a spot in the Surfer’s Hall of Fame in 2000.
Machado was re-inducted in 2006 and was named SIMA Waterman of the Year in 2011.
“I have always had a holistic aproach when it comes to my health and I am stoked to work with Ikänik on their CBD initiative,” says Machado. “To be able to offer people an additional option for bettering their lives is very important to me.”
In 2004, Machado launched the Rob Machado Foundation, which provides clean drinking water stations and water bottles to thousands of children in California and Hawaii and supports local gardening programs and beach cleanup efforts.
A Southern California resident, Machado also makes epoxy foam and e-polyresin surfboards, which he sells through his personal brand with his partner, Firewire.
Ikänik Farms CEO Brian Baca says that the company is excited to welcome Machado into the family, saying that the surfer is a great human being who wants to make a positive impact around the world.
