The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Hemet Station announced on Monday the service of nine cannabis cultivation search warrants in the town of Anza, which is located in an unincorporated area of the county.
Personnel from the Sheriff’s Department were assisted by the Riverside County Sheriff Marijuana Eradication Team, the California Department of Fish and Game, and the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
During the service of the warrants, which began at around 6 a.m., authorities seized a total of 4,131 cannabis plants and 1,029 pounds of processed marijuana which weighed out to approximately ten tons.
Approximately $900 in U.S. currency was also seized as evidence as well as two firearms.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, all weights are approximate and the currency total is an estimate as the money was put into a sealed bag to be counted later.
Two Anza residents, who were identified as 61-year-old George Hanin and 68-year-old John Crieg, were located at two separate grow sites during the service of the warrants.
Charges against the two will be filed with the District Attorney’s Office for Marijuana Cultivation.
The incident marks the second round of cannabis cultivation search warrants that the Sheriff’s Department has served in the past week.
In a separate operation on September 30, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, served six marijuana cultivation search warrants at grow sites in Anza, seizing roughly 2,105 plants and 14 pounds of processed cannabis which weighed combined a total of 12.5 tons.
Approximately $15,000 in U.S. currency was seized during the operation as well as one handgun.
