A new survey shows why most people use cannabis.
Today, Wakefield, Massachusetts-based Curaleaf released the results of the survey, which The Harris Poll conducted on its behalf.
Curaleaf says approximately 2,000 adults over 21 completed the online survey.
Survey Results
According to Curaleaf, the survey showed that 91 percent of adults who have used cannabis used it for health and wellness purposes.
Curaleaf says the findings reveal attitudes toward cannabis and desires for holistic health and wellness.
The survey also showed that 75 percent of Americans prefer holistic treatments over pharmaceuticals for treating medical issues, and 62 percent would use cannabis.
According to the survey results, 52 percent use cannabis to relax, 49 percent use it as a sleep aid, 44 percent use it to reduce stress, and 41 percent use it to lower anxiety.
The survey also revealed that 88 percent of people who used cannabis as a pharmaceutical alternative felt that it improved their overall well-being.
Additionally, 86 percent of people who used cannabis for health and wellness purposes would also recommend it to a family member or friend for medical use.
“Educating consumers on how cannabis can be leveraged to support everyday health and wellness needs is critical to destigmatizing the plant and providing consumers with more choices to best fit their personal lifestyle,” says Curaleaf New York Clinical Cannabis Pharmacist Dr. Stacia Woodcock. “There are a wide variety of ways to consume cannabis safely, and many formulations actually have minimal intoxicating effects.”
Dr. Woodcock says different product options with varying tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) ratios allow patients to tailor their cannabis use to their lifestyle and comfort level.
With cannabis becoming legal in a growing number of states each year, Curaleaf says beliefs and behaviors regarding consumption are changing.
What used to be legal and societal taboos have become widespread acceptance, and attitudes toward cannabis use are more inclusive for patients who rely on cannabis for various personal health and wellness needs.
Curaleaf says it understands the attitude shift and is focusing on product accessibility and approachability for people looking for alternative health and wellness options.
The company says it remains a wellness destination with more than 130 retail shops and a diverse selection of cannabis products in varying form factors.
