Another Call Has Been Answered for New, Innovative CBD-Infused Beverages

By Sekou Black

Earlier this year on April 27th, the Biotech giant, Lexaria (stock symbols – OTCQX: LXRP) (CSE: LXX) (the “Company” or “Lexaria”) signed a letter of intent, (known in the business world and a LOI) with Hill St. Beverage Company, “on a semi exclusive basis to produce a line of cannabis infused alcohol-free beers and wines for Canadian distribution, following regulatory approval,” as announced on their agency website.  Well what have they been up to since then?

The infused wine Hill St. Beverage has to offer.

They have been planning some fun stuff for us to try out and consume I tell you!  Their plans were to infuse both red as well as white wines with the health and wellness improving cannabinoid of CBD, also known as cannabidiol.  As their slogan suggests “The Most Awarded Alcohol-Free Beer Company in the World,” I can believe that consumers, as in me, you as well as investors are going to have a field day with this one.

Winning many awards in Canada as well in the U.S. as well as being endorsed by Weight Watchers in Canada, companies less inclined to make such a bold and crafty move will have to do their homework to compete with this well-prepared giant.  As our shareholders here are scrambling while doing their own research, perhaps not as confident investing in this type of cannabis on our side of the border,  they are getting lots of support up there in B.C. Below is a graph of the market projections for Lexaria.

Competitors such as Rebel Coast Brewing are filling California dispensaries fast, with their alcohol-removed wine which also contains THC.  With selling points suggesting “No alcohol, no hangover and best of all, only 35 calories per glass,” said Chip Forsythe, Rebel Coast Co-Founder & Winemaker, I can foresee great things to come, especially for those that enjoy the taste of wine with a little bit of cannabis in their system.  Don’t count on getting the buzz you would expect from this non-alcoholic vino however you can imagine other handfuls of holistic as well as psychedelic effects. The cannabinoid CBD, found in Hill St. Beverage’s creation is known for offering no such effects that lend to the psychedelic experience. Founded in Toronto and doing quite well since their partnership with Lexaria Bioscience, who knows yet where they will be on our side of the border.  I cannot vouch for either one, as I have not tried it either company mentioned, however, feel free to indulge, responsibly that is and let us know what you think!
