Aurora Cannabis Partners With UFC For CBD Research

Aurora Cannabis Inc. has announced a multi-year partnership with mixed martial arts organization, UFC to conduct research involving cannabidiol (CBD) and athletes.

The exclusive multi-million dollar global research agreement is expected to advance current clinical research on the use of hemp-derived CBD for athlete wellness and recovery.

Studies will take place at the UFC’s Performance Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada, in conjunction with the UFC sports performance team as well as any athletes who decide to participate in the research.

Designed for mixed martial arts multi-disciplinary research, innovation, and training, the Institute has served more than 400 athletes since it opened in 2017, providing support and education on health, nutrition, and injury prevention.

“Since the day we opened the Performance Institute, our primary goal was to offer UFC athletes the best possible training, nutrition, and recovery services,” says UFC President Dana White. “This partnership with Aurora is an extension of that goal, and we’re looking forward to collaborating with Aurora to find new ways to improve the health and safety of athletes who compete in UFC.”

Aurora CEO, Terry Booth says that the focus of the partnership is on UFC’s highly-trained athletes, and that the collaboration creates a global platform for education and awareness campaigns and new opportunities to accelerate CBD business worldwide.

Research conducted at the Institute will include studies on injury recovery, pain management, inflammation, and mental well-being.
