Last week, authorities raided and shuttered several marijuana dispensaries in that had been operating in the city of Pomona without licenses. While cannabis is legal in California, Pomona is one of the cities that opted to prohibit commercial cannabis in the wake of the state’s legalization measure, Proposition 64.

From December 17 through December 18, the Pomona Police Department’s Special Investigative Unit and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration conducted a city-wide sweep of seven illegal dispensaries operating within city limits.

“These dispensaries were also selling tobacco products without a license and all seven marijuana dispensaries failed to file a quarterly tax return,” wrote Corporal Thomas De La Vega in a report. “The property owners of these illegal marijuana dispensaries consistently refused to comply with the City’s request to cease all illegal activity.”

According to the report, the dispensaries had been operating illegally in Pomona for several weeks.

During last week’s operations, authorities seized more than 500 ecstasy pills, 45 pounds of cannabis, 600 pounds of marijuana product, one firearm, and about $32,000 in U.S. currency.
