In a latest effort to combat illegal cannabis cultivation, deputies and investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Cabazon Station served a pair of marijuana eradication search warrants on Tuesday, August 13.
One warrant was served at a location in the 10000 block of Virginia Lane in Cherry Valley, and the other was served at a separate site in the 14500 block of Agnes Street in Cabazon.
During the execution of the search warrants, authorities seized 3,230 plants and 120 pounds of processed cannabis.
The operation marks the second and third warrants involving cannabis cultivation that have been served by law enforcement in Riverside County in August so far.
On August 2, members of the Jurupa Valley Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a location in the 11000 block of Sunstone Court in Jurupa Valley.
Upon investigation, deputies determined that the property had been converted to an unlicensed indoor cannabis cultivation site with evidence that plants had been harvested there.
Deputies seized a total of 1,700 cannabis plants which they estimated to be valued at $3,390,000.
During the investigation, deputies also discovered that utility theft was also taking place at the location, valued at $21,781.74.
Thirty-two-year-old Yu Zheng of Los Angeles was present during the execution of the search warrant and was arrested on charges of illegal cannabis cultivation, possession, and intent to sell, and theft of utilities.
Zheng was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in the City of Riverside.
