Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver De’Anthony Thomas was arrested this past weekend on suspicion of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
The Allen County Sheriff’s office posted to their Facebook page on Saturday that 26-year-old Thomas from Lee’s Summit, Missouri had been booked into the Allen County jail.
“After talking to the Allen County Sheriff,” wrote Iola Register sports editor in a tweet. “I can confirm that Chiefs WR De’Anthony Thomas was pulled over for speeding before they found what appeared to be marijuana or paraphernalia.”
Originally from Los Angeles, California, Thomas attended Oregon State before joining the Chiefs in 2014. Thomas was placed on injured reserve on January 2, 2018, after injuring his leg and then again after fracturing the same leg again during practice on October 13, 2018.
According to online records, Thomas has been released from jail on bond.
A Chiefs spokesperson has told media that they are aware of the arrest but have no further comment on the situation at this time.
