Ohio Hemp Store Gives Away Hundreds Of CBD Dog Treats For Independence Day

For anyone who attends one of the many Independence Day celebrations that take place across the United States every July 4, evening fireworks are standard fare for the holiday festivities, though not everyone is a fan of the multi-colored aerial explosions.

July 5 is one of the busiest days of the year for animal shelters across the country where many frightened pets end up after their fight-or-flight responses are triggered by booming fireworks the night before.

Cannabidiol (CBD) products for pets have begun to emerge over the past several years as many people have found that they can work to help calm their pet and ease their anxiety.

In 2018, Toledo Hemp Center (THC) handed out more than 300 free CBD dog treats to help provide some safe relief for pets during Independence Day.

THC did the giveaway again this year from July 2-4, handing out more than 700 5mg CBD dog treats and selling more than 400 of the 30-count bags.

“The products we are offering many pets, help provide the relief they deserve,” said THC manager Payton De Moe in a press release. “Knowing they may also help with many anxiety issues from Fourth of July fireworks we decided on our 3-day blitz, something we do every year for Toledo area pets.”

The store didn’t have any of the dog treats left on July 4 as their entire stock had sold out in the first two days of the promotion, though tinctures were still available at the time and new treats were set to be delivered and restocked by the end of the week.

With a 19-year-old dog with anxiety and pain issues in his care at home, THC Owner Kevin Spitler says that he gets it and feels an obligation to help as many fur babies as possible get through difficult times such as fireworks displays on July 4.
