Police have launched an investigation after a fire broke out at a medicinal cannabis dispensary in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

At around 7 a.m. on Thursday, officers with the Halifax Regional Police Department received a call regarding a fire at the Greenhouse Wellness dispensary on Dutch Village Road.

The caller reported that they had seen a tall, masked, bookbag-toting white man dressed in all black start the fire and then leave on foot.

Police officers and firefighters arrived at the location and crews were able to extinguish the blaze within about an hour. Officials determined that the fire had started at the rear of the building and burned its way in, damaging some of the structure and incinerating a portion of cannabis inside.

No persons were injured in the fire, but the General Investigative Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division has begun the preliminary stages of an investigation into the incident.

Officials are asking anyone with information to contact them at 1-902-490-5020 or submit tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or crimestoppers.ns.ca.
