Police in Baton Rouge, Louisiana arrested two suspects on Friday in connection with a shooting that happened during a marijuana deal earlier in December.

Baton Rouge Police Officers responded to a call at 3255 Highland Road at 9:45 p.m. on December 6 after the Department received a report of shots being fired at the location.

Officers were unable to find any victims when they arrived but were told that an individual with a gunshot wound had been taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

Police went to the facility but were unable to speak with the victim until a week later due to the life-threatening nature of his injuries. The Advocate reports that when the victim was able to talk, he told officers that Fayzon Johnson and 18-year-old Bradley Winters had arranged to meet him in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box to buy some marijuana.

The three individuals knew each other from working at McDonald’s.

After the pair arrived at the restaurant, Johnson attempted to swat the marijuana out of the victim’s hand and Winters shot at him. Johnson also fired at the victim as he ran back to his vehicle.

One of the shots hit the victim in the upper shoulder and two of them struck his car.

Police arrested Winters on Friday on charges of attempted murder in the second-degree, illegal use of a weapon, and aggravated criminal damage to property. Johnson is also in police custody on a charge of attempted murder.
