California passed emergency cannabis regulations in December of 2017 so that the state’s legal cannabis market could begin when 2018 arrived.

After the rules were readopted in June, the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC) began opening public comment periods, giving people that work in the marijuana industry and others the opportunity to provide input and help shape the rules that surround the legal cannabis market.

Friday, October 19 marked the beginning of new comment period as three of California’s cannabis licensing authorities announced proposed changes to the rules posted to the California Regulatory Notice Register on July 13.

“We’ve received valuable feedback from industry stakeholders and the public over the duration of the 45-day comment period,” said BCC Chief Lori Ajax in a press release. “These changes we’ve proposed further clarify the requirements for cannabis businesses while protecting overall public health and safety.”

The comment period, which is in regards to the newly-proposed regulations only, ends at 5 p.m. on November 5.

Until the rule-making process is complete, emergency regulations that are already active will remain in effect.
