CannaGather Breaks Down Medical Cannabis in New York

In its role as the largest cannabis industry community in New York and New Jersey, CannaGather continued to spread knowledge and enhance networks across the region at September’s monthly NYC event, held at The New School near Union Square.

This month’s theme centered around the state of medical cannabis in New York and featured prominent entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, health and wellness personnel, media professionals and political activists.

Adam Goers, Chair of the New York Medical Cannabis Industry Association and VP Corporate Affairs at Columbia Care LLC, was the keynote speaker for the evening. Motivated by the prospect of helping countless patients in need, Adam advances the Association’s mission of protecting and serving the patients in New York’s medical marijuana program and advocating for state-wide adult-use legalization. His insight into current dispensary access and qualifying conditions for cannabis helps provide perspective when envisioning a path forward.

Also joining CannaGather was psychiatrist, educator and consultant Dr. David Nathan, President of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation. Dr. Nathan discussed the importance of physician-backed support for government regulation, having provided testimony on the matter to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee himself.

Prior to the keynote speakers, attendees were able to network and make connections within the industry over provided dinner and drinks. CannaGather founder Josh Weinstein then led a conversation around news updates such as the scheduled NYC ban on CBD-infused food and drinks, the upcoming vote on the SAFE Banking Act (a bipartisan cannabis banking bill) and the recent news cycle regarding the dangers of vaping.

Exhibiting sponsors for this event included Cole Schotz, Arcview, MGO, Wilson Elser, PKF O’Connor Davies and EZ Breezy Media, with supporting sponsors BDS Analytics, HelloConvo, Archer, International Cannabis Bar Association, Tress Capital, Erba Verda and Splash.
