New York Clothing Company Introduces CBD-Infused Activewear

In 2019, there a great many cannabidiol-infused (CBD) products that are on the market, with an increasing variety of tinctures, topicals, capsules, edibles, drinks, and other items being introduced on a daily basis.

Women’s activewear can now be added to the list of CBD-infused products available to consumers.

On Tuesday, New-York-based Acabada ProActiveWear introduced itself as the world’s first and only brand of CBD-infused activewear.

“While typical CBD products such as tinctures and edibles are growing exponentially in popularity, we began to envision a product that addressed health and wellness through a different lens,” says Acabada CEO and co-founder Seth Baum. “By physically infusing CBD into our garments, our product lives at the intersection of fashion, fitness, and wellness.”

Baum, who has more than 30 years of experience in the apparel industry, says that the company’s name, Acabada, which comes from the Portuguese word for finished (acabar), tells the story that their fabrics have been finished with CBD.

Acabada infuses their fabrics through a process known as microencapsulation which wraps microscopic droplets of hemp-derived CBD in a protective coating before they are bonded to fabric fibers through a patented textile finishing treatment.

Microencapsulation has previously been used to infuse clothing with moisturizers, therapeutic oils, fragrances, and insect repellent.

The CBD microcapsules in Acabada garments are layered in specific locations to reduce pain and inflammation in certain muscle groups and are designed to break open with friction and be absorbed through the skin.

Acabada garments, which come infused with up to 25 grams of lab-certified, 99 percent pure CBD, are designed to last through up to 40 high-intensity wear and wash cycles before they can be sustainably recycled.

The company offers a 30 percent discount through their garment upcycling program which will recycle and repurpose synthetic fabrics as commercial materials.

Acabada CCO and co-founder Katrina Petrillo says that the garments were designed with luxurious, breathable fabrics to provide active women with high-fashion styles that can be worn comfortably during a workout and throughout the rest of the day.

The company’s first line of CBD-infused activewear, which will be available for purchase on August 22, includes tops, leggings, sports bras, shorts, jackets and bodysuits in black, white, and gunmetal grey.

Access to the presale can be accessed at the Acabada website using the code LIVECBD.

Acabada collections are limited edition lines, each of which will be available until all units are sold.

New styles and colors will be available with the release of each new line.
