Adult And Juvenile Charged Over Cannabis Gummies

A 48-year-old man and a 13-year-old girl are facing charges after a 14-year old classmate became sickened from a cannabis-infused gummy bear at a school in New Jersey.

According to authorities, a 14-year-old female student at Thomas Jefferson Middle School became ill and started vomiting after consuming a gummy bear that she had obtained from a 13-year-old student who told her that it would stop her from stressing out.

A later investigation revealed that the candy was also given to other students during school hours.

The sickened girl was transported to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood where it was determined that the gummy bear had contained THC.

Forty-eight-year-old former Fair Lawn Board of Education member Jeffrey Klein was arrested after witness statements connected him with the incident. Klein was charged with possession of fewer than five grams of hashish and then released.

Klein relinquished his position on the Board in November after failing to be elected for another term, after which, four teachers dropped ethics charges that they had raised against him.

The 13-year-old will be charged on a juvenile petition in family court.
